Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed defense support for Ukraine with all European leaders
Continuing contacts on reinforcing the Ukrainian army, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European leaders and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
After negotiations with the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany the day before, the Head of State met with all other leaders present at the EU summit.
The President of Ukraine told his colleagues about the situation on the battlefield and Ukraine's defense needs, including fighter jets, armored vehicles, artillery and air defense. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the timely provision of the necessary equipment in the right amount would help restore a just peace as soon as possible and protect the interests and values of Europe. The participants of the meetings discussed the possibility of switching the military industry of the European Union to an enhanced mode of operation.
In addition, the President of Ukraine called for the elimination of gaps in the sanctions policy against Russia and speeding up the creation of an effective compensation mechanism.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with partners concrete steps to implement the Peace Formula and called for a decision to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU this year already.
