Prime Minister of Ukraine met with newly elected Speaker of Latvian Saeima

On January 12, in Kyiv, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with the newly elected Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, Edvards Smiltēns, and Latvian parliamentarians.

The parties discussed financial and humanitarian assistance, as well as the continuation of sanctions policy against russia. Denys Shmyhal stressed the need to impose restrictions in the field of russian nuclear energy.

The participants of the meeting also raised the issue of supplying air defense systems and bringing the top russian leadership to justice.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked Latvia for the strong support of our country on the path to the EU and NATO and in the struggle for freedom and democracy.
