We must work to reinforce sanctions against russia in all areas that have a significant impact on the economy

An important direction of diplomatic work is to intensify the sanctions policy against russia, in particular restrictions on the russian nuclear industry, more sanctions in the military sphere, as well as in trade and banking. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during the Conference of Ambassadors of Ukraine "War and New Horizons in the World" held in Kyiv on December 23.

In a conversation with Ukrainian diplomats, the Prime Minister urged to work with countries to strengthen sanctions against russia in all areas that have a significant impact on the economy of the aggressor.

"We need to work on sanctions in the military sphere, in particular to cover all trade in military and dual-use products with specific sectoral and secondary sanctions to prevent their circumvention. This is number one priority," the Prime Minister stressed.

In the energy sector, according to him, in addition to restrictions on oil and gas, it is crucial to introduce sanctions in the russian nuclear industry and nuclear technologies.

"In the trade sphere, we should pay attention to the companies operating in the russian market - there are more than a thousand of them. More than 1,100 have curtailed their work. Our goal is the complete withdrawal of foreign companies from the russian market. The same with banks. Only 11 out of 330 russian banks are under sanctions, so there is still a lot of work in this direction," Denys Shmyhal urged.

The Prime Minister also noted that it was extremely important to continue personal sanctions and work to freeze russian assets..
