Denys Shmyhal met with President Joe Biden
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the President of the United States of America Joe Biden discussed the increasing of financial and military assistance, the strengthening of sanctions against russia and the consolidation of the international anti-putin coalition at a meeting on April 21 in Washington.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government thanked on behalf of all Ukrainians for the great support of our state from the Administration of the President of the United States, in particular, for announcing the provision of a new large-scale package of military assistance to Ukraine to the tune of USD 800 million and USD 500 million as direct economic assistance.
"For Ukraine's victory in defending the independence and shared values of a democratic world it is required further U.S. lead in supplying weapons, increasing financial assistance and strengthening sanctions against russia. This is the only way to force the kremlin to end the war!" said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister told about the crimes of the occupiers on the territory of Ukraine, about the numerous casualties and significant losses, about the destroyed civilian infrastructure.
"The whole world has become aware of the atrocities committed by russian invaders in Bucha, Kramatorsk, Borodianka, Hostomel, Mariupol and other cities of Ukraine. We appreciate your determination to call these actions genocide. We count on joining efforts by the international community to bring the organizers and perpetrators of crimes to justice," said Denys Shmyhal.
The parties raised the issue of levying tougher sanctions against russia. The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine highly appreciates the leadership of the United States in coordinating the efforts of partners in the matter of imposition of complex sanctions to stop the aggressive policy of the kremlin.
Denys Shmyhal accentuated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians had shown that they would not surrender and are capable of winning. According to him, at this crucial moment, the U.S. guidance is critical.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian flag signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a symbolic limited postage stamp indicating the direction for the russian warship were handed over to U.S. President Joseph Biden.
