Yevhen Perebyinis took part in the ceremony of cancelling a postage stamp dedicated to Pope Leo XIV

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis took part in the ceremony of special cancellation of a postage stamp depicting Pope Leo XIV and a Ukrainian child holding a ribbon with national colors.

The event was held at the Central Office of “Ukrposhta" with the participation of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine Visvaldas Kulbokas, Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk,  Advisor - President's Commissioner for Children's Rights and Children's Rehabilitation Daria Herasymchuk, Co-Chairman of the Deputy Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Interparliamentary Relations with the Vatican Rostyslav Tistyk, People's Deputies of Ukraine - members of the Friendship Group, representatives of Ukrposhta, as well as Yuriy Kotyk, a patron and author of the idea, and Volodymyr Kozyuk, People's Artist of Ukraine.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister emphasised the important role of His Holiness the Pope as a moral authority in the modern world and noted his consistent efforts to establish peace, dialogue and human dignity, particularly in the context of supporting Ukraine.

The image on this stamp is concise, yet remarkably eloquent.

“By blessing a child, the Pope seems to be blessing all of Ukraine and at the same time addressing a message of peace to the whole world: war cannot have the last word, and every child has the right to a safe and dignified future,” emphasised Yevhen Perebyinis.

The Deputy Minister also noted the spiritual harmony of this event with the presentation in February of this year in the Vatican of a postage stamp in honour of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which became an important sign of support for our state and unity in times of trials.
