Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, Victor Chirilă.
Olexandr Mischenko congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and expressed hope for continued active bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova. The Deputy Minister thanked the Moldovan side for its consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including within international organizations.
The Ukrainian diplomat expressed gratitude to the Moldovan side, in particular to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova and the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, for the joint organization and successful holding of this year’s Black Sea Security Conference, which took place on March 23, in Chișinău.
The parties discussed the state of bilateral relations and prospects for their further development in the political, trade‑and‑economic, energy and humanitarian spheres. The interlocutors paid special attention to the trilateral cooperation format between Ukraine, Moldova and Romania within the framework of the Odesa Triangle, particularly the importance of holding a meeting of the three countries’ heads of government in the near future.
The Deputy Minister also addressed the importance of coordinating actions in the context of the two countries’ European integration, including the need to synchronize steps to counteract destructive actions by certain states that block this process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further intensifying bilateral contacts.
