At a diplomatic reception held on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria — the Day of Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman Rule, as well as the Day of Valour and of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, I had the honour to personally extend my congratulations to Ms. Olena Slatinska-Ovanesova, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine, and to Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Stanchev, Defence, Air and Naval Attaché of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the high level of partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Bulgaria was noted, based on long-standing friendship, mutual respect and active cooperation in the political, economic and security spheres. Particular attention was drawn to Bulgaria’s consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as its significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities in the context of ongoing Russian aggression.

The current development of Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations is a clear example of effective interstate dialogue aimed at reinforcing stability, security and democratic values in Europe.
