Pakistan Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine organized a somber function to mark 27th October as 78th Kashmir Black Day

Apart from prominent diaspora and Pakistani student, notable guests from Ukrainian media and academia were invited which included following.

            The Embassy was adorned with posters and pictures reflecting struggle of Kashmiri people visuals and documentaries were also played before and after the main event. Pamphlets and brochures on the same lines were also distributed to the audience. Messages from President / Prime Minister / Foreign Minister were read out. Highlight of the event was the address by a Pakistani student Ms. Midhat Ashfaq hailing from Kotli, Azad Kashmir who expressed her feelings regarding the struggle of Kashmiri People and the Human Rights abuses faced by the people of illegally occupied territories.

            Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to Ukraine highlighted the crux of messages from Pakistani leadership on the occasion. He drew parallels between illegal occupation of Kashmir by India & Crimea by Russian Federation. The development in region especially post 2019 with their implications on South Asia’s stability were also amply highlighted to the diaspora especially youth. Ambassador urged Pakistani community to share historical and legal aspects of issue amongst locals. He urged students to have factual understanding of Kashmir issue and share it convincingly & forcefully with all segments of Ukrainian society.

            The event concluded with special prayers for martyrs of Kashmir and quick ending of their illegal occupation by Indian Armed Forces by representatives of religious organization UMMAH in Ukraine. The Embassy hosted the guests with Kashmiri cuisine as well as pictorial exhibition of Indian atrocities to educate invited Ukrainian guests.

            The event not only showcased Kashmir’s rich & cultural heritage but also sensitized guests from Ukrainian society about historic suffering of IIOJK populace awaiting their right of self-determination in light of UN resolutions and Geneva Convention.
