The European Commission has recorded the best progress of Ukraine on its way to the EU in the last three years

Ambassador of the European Union, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová handed over the European Commission's annual report on EU enlargement to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during a meeting with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, First Vice-Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko and Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk. According to the report, Ukraine has shown the highest dynamics over the past three years.

The document notes the significant results achieved on the path to EU membership. According to the report, Ukraine has shown the highest dynamics in the last three years of its European integration path. A high level of readiness was recorded in 12 chapters - twice as many as last year. Seven sections have increased their level of compliance, and four have been assessed at a good level. The EU also noted the systemic progress of reforms even in the face of war. Ukraine is among the leaders of the enlargement along with Albania, Montenegro and Moldova.

«It is a great tradition to continue our communication at such special moments. I am especially grateful for the EU enlargement package - it is not only about the past, but also about the future. We will do everything necessary on our way to joining the European Union,» said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Katarína Mathernová emphasised that the report contains an honest assessment of Ukraine's real progress and demonstrates clear results in key areas of reform. «This is probably one of the best reports ever written, because I think it provides a very fair assessment. Some people may not like that it is too positive, but I think it shows that the work is ongoing and there is really obvious progress,» she said.

The European Commission also noted the sustainability of parliamentary work on the European integration agenda. Despite the security challenges, the sixth year of its term and the high pace of decision-making, the Verkhovna Rada ensures the necessary dynamics of reforms and implementation of EU norms.

«The priority of the Verkhovna Rada remains unchanged: effective legislative work that brings us closer to the common goal of the entire Ukrainian people. Despite the martial law, the Parliament is working - and this effectiveness is reflected in the Report,» said First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko.
