Denys Shmyhal talked to the new Prime Minister of Ireland

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had a conversation with the new Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, Simon Harris.

The Head of Ukrainian Government congratulated his counterpart on the appointment and proposed to continue an active dialogue between the two countries.

The parties discussed the situation on the battlefield and russia’s missile attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.

“Ukraine needs more air defence systems to protect people and more artillery to strengthen its military,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked Ireland for supporting Ukraine’s integration into NATO and the EU. He added that Ukraine was counting on Ireland’s solidarity to start EU accession negotiations by the end of June.

The heads of government also discussed the confiscation of russian assets.

“We are working with all stakeholders to find effective legal mechanisms. We have a common goal – to make the aggressor pay,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed his gratitude for Ireland’s assistance in humanitarian demining and proposed the development of joint production of demining equipment.
