Denys Shmyhal at the U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum urges American businesses to invest in the Ukrainian economy

According to the World Bank, Ukraine’s reconstruction will cost at least USD 486 billion, making it the largest international project of its kind since the Second World War. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum 2024 in Washington.

“As part of Ukraine’s recovery, the key factor is to attract international business. We are working to make Ukraine the next investment destination for American companies. We are creating the necessary conditions and implementing reforms to attract more investment and businesses,” the Head of Ukrainian Government said.

Denys Shmyhal also spoke about the six most promising areas for American investment in Ukraine. These are energy, defence, agriculture, critical raw materials, IT and construction.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted the importance of the four-year IMF assistance programme and the new four-year EU Ukraine Facility programme.

“Now we are looking forward and working to get support from the United States. Strong military assistance from the U.S. is as important for the investment climate as any other change. The defence industry is one of the key areas where Ukraine and the United States can build a unique partnership that will benefit the entire democratic world,” said Denys Shmyhal.
