First Deputy Speaker held a series of bilateral meetings within the framework of the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine
On the sidelines of the International Conference «Reconstruction of Ukraine: from URC-2025 to action,» First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko met with Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ana Isabel Xavier.
Expressing gratitude to Portugal for its consistent diplomatic and financial support for Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniienko discussed with Ms. Ana Isabel Xavier mechanisms for further ensuring the defence capability of our state, bringing the aggressor to justice and forming an effective security architecture on the European continent.
During the meeting, the parties also recognised the importance of ensuring active dynamics in the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union. «In addition, I handed over a package of projects for the reconstruction of our state, prepared by Ukrainian communities. I talked about the ways and mechanisms for joining their implementation, which guarantee the effectiveness and transparency of the relevant projects,» said Oleksandr Korniienko.
The First Deputy Speaker also held a working meeting with Mariin Ratnik, State Secretary for International Cooperation, Trade and Economic Diplomacy of Estonia. «I thanked the Estonian side for their cooperation in organising this conference, which aims to present critically important projects in the field of reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine, particularly at the local community level, as well as to exchange successful experiences of already implemented projects,» said Oleksandr Korniienko.
During the meeting, the parties also agreed to take all possible measures to ensure the dynamic progress of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. Other important topics of discussion included future joint steps to enhance defence cooperation, develop industrial potential, exchange technologies, and a wide range of issues related to deepening cooperation in trade and agriculture.
