The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Dáil of Ireland Verona Murphy
In the framework of the Conference of the Heads of Parliaments of the EU Member States, in Budapest, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Dáil of Ireland Verona Murphy to discuss support for Ukraine, achieving a just peace and strengthening security in Europe.
During the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Ireland for its consistent support of Ukraine, both at the parliamentary level and through practical actions of the government. In particular, for the assistance to Ukrainians who have found temporary protection in Ireland and for the decision to increase the volume of non-lethal military and humanitarian aid.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informed the Irish side of Ukraine's important steps towards achieving a just peace. «We are ready for a 30-day ceasefire as a first step towards negotiations, but we will not make concessions on sovereignty, territories, the Armed Forces or our right to choose allies», he stressed.
He also drew attention to the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the Agreement on the establishment of the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund as an important signal to international partners.
The parties also discussed the need for increased military assistance, investment in Ukraine's defence industry, confiscation of frozen russian assets and Europe's active participation in shaping a new security architecture on the continent.
