Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen discussed deepening defence cooperation and developing economic partnership. The meeting took place in Brussels on 10 April.

The parties discussed in detail the issues of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union, the early opening of negotiation clusters and further integration into the EU single market.

“Ukraine is ready to move forward and fulfil all its obligations on the way to full membership in the EU,” the Head of Ukrainian Government stressed, adding that Ukraine and the European Union were actively strengthening cooperation in all areas.

Denys Shmyhal highlighted the EU’s financial support and energy assistance, while also expressing gratitude for the ReArm Europe initiative, which opened up new opportunities for cooperation in security and defence.
