UKRAINIAN EMBROIDERED LOVE

At the beginning of the 20th century, folk craftsmen used cheap aniline paints on thin paper to create paintings, the so-called "maniyki". The white, transparent background of the paper gently shone through a thin layer of maniyki. This purity was complemented by a light pattern of a homemade brush. A modern dress or shirt "Maniykova" is embroidered with cotton, using the technique.
