The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk: “Peace through strength is the only way to a just peace”
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk took part in an online meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia and Ukraine, which took place in Riga on the initiative of the Speaker Lauri Hussar. He thanked his colleagues for their continued support of Ukraine and stressed the importance of consolidated efforts to counter russian aggression.
“Peace through strength is the only way to a just peace. Ukraine must be strong enough to dictate terms to the aggressor,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stressing that continued military assistance is a prerequisite for stopping the russian invasion.
According to him, Ukraine’s security is inextricably linked to the security of the whole of Europe, and its future in NATO and the EU depends on the support of its partners. Ruslan Stefanchuk also stressed that the aggressor should feel the real consequences of its actions, and that frozen russian assets should be used to rebuild Ukraine.
Special attention was paid to countering hybrid threats. “Together we must counter russian attempts at destabilisation, energy blackmail and subversion,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He stressed that Ukraine is fighting not only for its own independence, but also to protect the entire democratic world from russian aggression. “Together we will make this war the last one in the history of Europe,” he concluded.
