Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with Ambassador of Greece to Ukraine Pantelis Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos

On November 26, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mishchenko held a meeting with Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Ukraine Pantelis Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos.

Olexandr Mischenko congratulated the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic on the start of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and expressed hope that his professional experience would contribute to further strengthening of relations between Ukraine and Greece.

The Deputy Minister thanked the Greek side for its support of Ukraine and comprehensive assistance, particularly military one, since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion and noted the significance of the bilateral Agreement on Security Cooperation signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis on October 17, 2024, in Brussels. The parties discussed legal steps needed to start its implementation and coordinated the priorities of interaction to strengthen Ukraine's security and defence capabilities. The Ukrainian side announced its critical needs in weapons and military equipment.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the recovery of Ukraine, in particular the reconstruction of facilities in Odesa and the region, as well as to the countering of the covert transshipment of Russian fuel cargo near the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea.

Ambassador Pantelis Dimitrakopoulos reaffirmed Greece's unwavering position in support of Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO.

Olexandr Mischenko also drew attention of the Ambassador of Greece to the incident occurred on November 23 in the city of Mandra (Greece), where activists under communist flags committed provocations and physical assault on representatives of the Ukrainian community and a Ukrainian diplomat during the commemorative event to honour the memory of victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. It was stressed the necessity to swiftly investigate that incident and to take measures to prevent similar situations in the future.

Ambassador Pantelis Dimitrakopoulos assured of his country's readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine in countering Russia’s war of aggression as well as to promote further development of bilateral relations.
