Prime Minister and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State discuss restoration of critical infrastructure and protection of energy facilities

On 15 November, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State and Acting U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma in Kyiv.

The meeting was also attended by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, and Sergii Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

“The second visit of the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State to Kyiv in recent months demonstrates the intention to continue intensive bilateral cooperation. We are grateful to the U.S. Department of State for the decision to reduce the level of travel risk to 9 of our regions. This is an important decision for people and businesses,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The participants of the meeting also discussed governmental mechanisms for promoting foreign investment. The Prime Minister noted that the Strategic Investment Council had recently been established to systematise priority projects for Ukrainian cities and communities.

The parties also paid attention to the restoration of critical infrastructure and the protection of energy facilities. Denys Shmyhal thanked the United States for its support in this area.

The Prime Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the United States for its significant financial assistance and support for all initiatives aimed at Ukraine’s reconstruction.
