Maksym Subkh receives copies of credentials from the new Ambassador of Egypt to Ukraine Barakat Elleity
On November 1, 2024 the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Sukbh received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ukraine Barakat Elleity.
During the conversation, the parties discussed ways to intensify bilateral political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest with an emphasis on the agreements reached during the recent meeting in Cairo between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt Badr Abdelatty.
The Special Representative briefed the Egyptian diplomat on the development of the security situation in Ukraine, in particular, the criminal actions of the Russian Federation against the civilian population of our country and the daily destruction of civilian and critical infrastructure facilities. Ukrainian Peace Formula, which remains the only realistic way to end Russian aggression was on the top of the meeting’s agenda.
In this context, the Ukrainian diplomat expressed the hope that Egypt will join the second Peace Summit and make its own contribution to the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the cessation of the ongoing Russian aggression against our state in order to achieve a long-lasting, just and comprehensive peace.
The parties discussed ways of strengthening food security in Africa. Maksym Subkh handed over to the Ambassador the letter of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi with an invitation to participate in the third International Summit "International Summit on Food Security", which will be held on 23 November 2024 in Kyiv.
