Slovakia is the second largest country in terms of electricity transmission to Ukraine

Slovakia is the second largest country in terms of both emergency and commercial electricity transmission to Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a press conference with Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.

“Ukraine is grateful to Slovakia for its vital energy support. It allows us to respond to the energy challenges of wartime,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

According to Denys Shmyhal, in the energy sector, Ukraine and Slovakia are implementing an ambitious joint project to modernise the Mukachevo – Veľké Kapušany electrical interconnector.

Funding for these works is provided under the Ukraine Facility programme. The project should be completed by the end of 2028.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that this would ultimately expand export and import opportunities and strengthen the energy security of both countries.
