The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the former Prime Minister of France Gabriel Attal

In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Gabriel Attal, a member of the Committee on Culture and Education of the National Assembly of the French Republic, former Prime Minister of France, and the delegation he leads.

First of all, Ruslan Stefanchuk welcomed Gabriel Attal to the Ukrainian Parliament and expressed his gratitude to the French people, the President, the Parliament and the Government of France for their high level of support for Ukraine.

“The role of the French parliament is very important for us, as it has adopted seven important resolutions in support of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia,” said the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The parties discussed the security situation in Ukraine. Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that russia continues its shameful terrorist attacks against Ukraine, killing civilians and destroying our critical infrastructure. Therefore, he stressed, Ukraine needs further support from its allies in its struggle.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also noted the value of the defence assistance provided to Ukraine and called for further supplies of weapons and military equipment. Ruslan Stefanchuk also emphasised the importance of granting Ukraine permission to strike military targets in russia with allied weapons.

Special attention was paid to the creation of an international compensation mechanism. The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed the importance of continuing to freeze the assets of the russian federation and finding ways to use them directly to support Ukraine.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked France for its support of Ukraine and expressed hope for further assistance in implementing Ukraine's international initiatives.
