Denys Shmyhal met with the Prime Minister of Ireland
On 4 September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris in Kyiv.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government informed his counterpart about russia's missile attacks on civilian infrastructure. He also stressed the need to strengthen Ukrainian air defence to protect people and peaceful cities.
"Long-range weapons and permission to strike enemy territory are crucial to stop russia. We count on Ireland's full support in these matters," said Denys Shmyhal.
The parties also touched upon the issue of sanctions against the aggressor. Denys Shmyhal stressed that this is an effective tool in the fight against the russian military machine. He called on partners to further strengthen restrictions.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that Ukraine appreciates Ireland's support for the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine. The heads of government also discussed the implementation of the Agreement on Support for Ukraine and Cooperation, which the Prime Minister of Ireland signed with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Denys Shmyhal spoke about the situation in the energy sector and thanked Irish businesses that are working and investing in Ukraine despite the war. He also conveyed his gratitude to the entire Irish people and government for their consistent and strong support for Ukraine.
