Speech of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Н.Е. Mr. Valeriu Chiveri
«Dear friends, I believe today is a special day in developing our Moldovan-Ukrainian relations at the regional level. Our network of Honorary consulates is rather developed, but in the past only in the central and western part of the country.
We intend, to expand the presence of consulates in the eastern part of Ukraine as well. A few weeks ago, we opened the consulate in Zaporizhie, now in Sumy and in the near future, we plan to open in Dnepr. These regions are among the most affected by the war. Our presence there is also sign of solidarity with people, with the regions that are on the frontline of fighting the russan aggressor.
Ukraine is a big country, and the Embassy possibilities are limited. Therefore, it is impossible to cover all regions, to maintain active communication with local authorities, to promote economic ties, cultural events, to support our citizens. Much easier to do it, having honorary consulates.
We enjoy a very good cooperation with the already existing for many years honorary consulate. I am convinced this good tradition will continue with the opening of a new one in Sumy. I would like to thank Emil for organizing this event, for bringing us together. It is a pity we did not do it in Sumy, but I am convinced, time will come. I would like to wish all of us victory and peace, success and prosperity. And to finish I have to say - Emil, we will count on your support, thank you».
