The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands Martin Bosma

The meeting took place in the framework of the NATO Summit of the Speakers of the Parliaments of NATO member states, which is taking place on 08-09 July in Washington, USA. The main purpose of the visit of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk is to provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in its fight against the russian aggressor and to discuss Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk began the meeting by informing the audience about the russian missile attack on Ukrainian cities, especially on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv. "Today, russia has committed one of the bloodiest war crimes – it has hit the central children's hospital where the most complex diseases of children are treated," he said.

At the same time, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament emphasised that the whole world had seen another example of solidarity of the Ukrainian people: "People immediately stood by each other and began to clear the rubble, and entire traffic jams formed with cars carrying water and other aid to those affected by the explosions." Ruslan Stefanchuk called on his colleague and international partners to continue to provide sustainable support to Ukraine and uninterrupted assistance, especially military aid.

The parties paid considerable attention to Ukraine's path to NATO membership. "I really hope and I will ask my fellow speakers to do everything possible to ensure that NATO eventually decides on a powerful solution for Ukraine that would bring us closer to the Alliance. That is why I, as the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, would like to ask you and my other colleagues to help Ukraine implement this idea," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked for the assistance received by Ukraine from the Netherlands, primarily military, financial and humanitarian.

"The initiative of the Netherlands to jointly supply the Patriot system to Ukraine with partners is extremely important, and we greatly appreciate it. Without closed skies, russian terror will continue," said the Speaker of the Parliament.
