The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with his colleague, the Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament Birgir Ármannsson

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the NATO Parliamentary Leaders Summit, which is taking place on 08-09 July in Washington, DC. At the beginning of the conversation, Ruslan Stefanchuk informed Birgir Ármannsson about the inhuman crime that russia committed today by attacking the children's hospital in Kyiv.

According to the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, this is evidence of how russia really wants peace: "Today's attack by russian criminals has shown that russia does not really want any peace. It acts like a terrorist, destroying, intimidating, and never stopping."

Ruslan Stefanchuk sincerely thanked the Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament, Mr Birgir Ármannsson, for the solidarity and condolences expressed on behalf of the Icelandic people, as well as all the partners who stand by Ukraine in deed and word, providing assistance.

At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that today it is very important to have cohesion and solidarity in support of Ukraine.

That is why it is very important to make a decision at the NATO Parliamentary Leaders Summit that will bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership.

In addition, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed Ukraine's urgent need for air defence systems and long-range missiles to protect civilians.

"I would like to thank you personally and the entire Parliament of Iceland for all the help and political decisions that have been made. Thank you for the military, humanitarian and financial assistance we receive."

Taking this opportunity, Ruslan Stefanchuk officially invited Birgir Ármannsson to participate in the 3rd Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, which will be held in October in Riga, Latvia.
