The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine Mateja Prevolšek

The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk began the conversation by expressing gratitude to Slovenia and the entire Slovenian people for their support of Ukraine.

"Ukraine appreciates the personal participation of the President of Slovenia, Ms Nataša Pirc Musar, in the Global Peace Summit and her joining the joint communiqué," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said: "The participation of the President of Slovenia, as well as her signing of the communiqué, is actually a manifestation of the fact that Slovenia, together with Ukraine, also sees the way to resolve this war and to bring peace to our land again."

At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine is also looking forward to signing a security agreement with Slovenia. "The relevant agreements are a clear example of the fact that even before Ukraine joins NATO, countries are ready to support Ukraine," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised. "Many NATO and non-NATO countries are now working on security agreements with Ukraine. This is a completely new example of how, even before Ukraine joins the Alliance, countries are ready to reaffirm their commitment to the principles and ideals for which Ukraine is fighting today," he stressed.

The parties also discussed issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the high level of existing interparliamentary relations.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Slovenia for supporting Ukraine on its way to the European Union. "From the moment we applied to the EU and throughout the entire journey, Slovenia has been one of the most loyal friends who supported Ukraine on this path," he said, also expressing gratitude for supporting Ukraine on its way to NATO: "We look forward to the Washington Summit and ask you to support the ambitious decision to join the Alliance. It will be beneficial not only for Ukraine but also for the Alliance, because the Alliance will get the most capable army today."

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to Slovenia for its defence support, which strengthens Ukraine's ability to withstand russian military aggression.

Finally, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked for the treatment and rehabilitation of our wounded servicemen and assistance in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children.
