The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko took part in the First Ukraine-EU Intergovernmental Conference, which marked the start of the negotiation process
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko was included in the Ukrainian delegation to the EU negotiations on the Association Agreement with Ukraine dated 21 June 2024 by the Presidential Decree of 21 June 2024. On Tuesday, 25 June, the First EU-Ukraine Intergovernmental Conference took place, marking the start of the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
"Despite all the challenges of the war, we have demonstrated our ability to move quickly and efficiently along the European integration path, fulfilling all the necessary obligations," Oleksandr Korniienko said, noting that international partners recognise the successful dynamics of the adoption of key reforms, and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has done everything to bring the country closer to this day by adopting the necessary decisions. The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their work.
"It is important that we start the negotiations prepared — the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has developed a number of actions to ensure an effective negotiation process," the First Vice Speaker said. He also stressed that the new stage will help Ukraine prepare to fulfil its obligations in the European Union: "Next up are the results. To reach another historic day as soon as possible — to obtain the status of EU members."
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko expressed his gratitude to the entire team for their hard work and all the steps taken, and congratulated Moldova on the start of the negotiation process.
