Denys Shmyhal discusses key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the United States with Acting Under Secretary of State
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass discussed key areas of support in Kyiv.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the United States for participating in the Global Peace Summit and for supporting the Peace Formula: "We have taken an important step towards a just peace on the European continent."
The parties also addressed Ukraine's integration into NATO, the restoration of Ukraine's energy sector through USAID programmes, and joint ventures in defence production.
Special attention was paid to the supply of necessary weapons for the Ukrainian army. First of all, air defence systems. The Prime Minister thanked the United States for its decision to provide Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defence system on a priority basis.
Another crucial part of the conversation was financial issues. According to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, this year the United States will provide Ukraine with USD 7.8 billion in direct budget support. This, he said, will help strengthen the macro-financial stability of our country.
