Denys Shmyhal met with Anthony Blinken

On 14 May, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Kyiv. The Ukrainian side was also represented by Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko, Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska, and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra. On the U.S. side, the meeting was attended by Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker.

The officials discussed the details of the next package of military aid from the United States in the amount of USD 400 million.

Denys Shmyhal stressed the need to reinforce Ukraine's air defence system, in particular to protect energy facilities. For its part, the American side assured that the United States was working in this direction.

Another important topic of the dialogue was the confiscation of russian assets. Ukraine and the United States are looking for solutions on how to use them for the benefit of our country.

During the meeting, it was noted that a number of private companies from the United States are interested in investing in Ukraine. In this context, the parties discussed creating opportunities for private sector investment.

The Prime Minister thanked the Administration of President Joe Biden as well as the American people for the strong support provided by the United States to Ukraine in the wake of russia's full-scale invasion.
