Prime Minister of Ukraine and President of Latvia discuss Ukraine’s EU and NATO accession, confiscation of russian assets and strengthening defence cooperation

During  a visit to Latvia on 4 April, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The parties discussed support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO, developing new ways to confiscate russian assets in Latvia, and strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.

“Latvia has already provided Ukraine with weapons, ammunition and military goods worth more than EUR 376 million, making it one of the leaders in terms of GDP. We are interested in expanding cooperation and launching joint defence production,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister thanked for the comprehensive support provided by Latvia and the Latvian people to Ukraine.
