Lithuanian Seimas has adopted resolution on non-recognition of russian presidential elections and called on russia to immediately return Ukrainian children

The Seimas of Lithuania has adopted a resolution on full support for Ukraine in the context of a full-scale war with the russian aggressor, submitted by the Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.

“Among the key positions of the document are the non-recognition of the russian presidential elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the immediate return of Ukrainian children illegally taken from Ukraine by russia,” said the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk.

In addition, the resolution of the Lithuanian Parliament confirms the continuation of military assistance and support for Ukraine's membership in NATO. Lithuanian MPs also support the use of frozen assets of the russian federation for the benefit of Ukraine.

“We discussed and agreed on the adoption of such a resolution with the Speaker during my official visit to Lithuania. I had very meaningful working meetings with the leadership of the Parliament, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr Žygimantas Pavilionis, and members of the Seimas. They resulted in this decision,” said Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.

On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, she thanked everyone who prepared, advocated and voted for this important resolution.

“I express my personal gratitude and respect to the Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen for her political and women's leadership, support for Ukraine and example of effective parliamentary diplomacy,” said Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
