Prime Minister of Ukraine met with Prime Minister of Iceland

Тhe Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal coordinated steps to support our country with the Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The meeting took place on May 16 as part of the government team's working visit to Reykjavik.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government thanked Iceland for supporting the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and for the initiative to host the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe. In this regard, the parties raised the issue of establishing a special international tribunal and a mechanism for compensation for damages caused by russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"The mechanism of compensation for losses should be one of the steps towards establishing justice. We also need to develop a tool for confiscating or otherwise using frozen russian assets to finance the future recovery of Ukraine," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

Denys Shmyhal thanked Iceland for its political and humanitarian support, in particular for its efforts to provide Ukraine with mobile hospitals. The Head of the Ukrainian Government also expressed hope that Iceland would support Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Katrín Jakobsdóttir, for her part, assured that Iceland would continue to provide active assistance until Ukraine's final victory.
