Italian business expresses high interest in participating in Ukraine's recovery

Тhe Ukraine Recovery Conference took place in Rome, attended by hundreds of Ukrainian and Italian companies, the President of the Italian Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted during a briefing on the outcomes of the visit, the results of the Conference were fruitful for Ukraine.

"We signed six memoranda in the fields of ecology, industry, logistics and energy. Two memorandums were also signed between the regions of Ukraine and Italy, which once again demonstrates the establishment of direct ties between our communities and people," said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Head of Government, the Ukrainian delegation outlined the key areas for the rapid recovery of our country so that Italian companies have an understanding of what to come to Ukraine with and when.

"The key areas are energy recovery, humanitarian demining, restoration of damaged housing, restoration of critical infrastructure, as well as restoration of our economic capacity in the field of micro, small and medium-sized businesses," the Prime Minister said.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that Italian business has expressed a high interest in participating in the recovery of Ukraine. In addition, the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE) is ready to resume work with Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister, an agreement was reached that the agency would allocate another EUR 1 billion for reconstruction projects in Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal also spoke about meetings with the Italian leadership: President Sergio Mattarella, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, President of the Senate Inizio La Russa and President of the Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana. According to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, he raised the issues of comprehensive support for Ukraine and Euro-Atlantic integration: "Italy assured us of its strong support on this path".

The Prime Minister stressed that an important element of the meetings was the discussion of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In particular, such key points as nuclear, food and energy security, the return of captured and deported Ukrainians home, the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the provision of security guarantees.

In addition, Denys Shmyhal held an audience with Pope Francis and Secretary of State Pietro Parolin at the Vatican. The parties addressed the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine and the possible assistance of His Holiness and the Vatican in achieving all the steps of the formula. The Prime Minister also asked for assistance in bringing home Ukrainians and Ukrainian children who are illegally detained, arrested or deported to russia.
