Prime Minister discusses special program for Ukraine's recovery with International Development Association

Тhe Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held an online meeting with the leadership of the International Development Association, a member of the World Bank Group. The participants discussed the challenges faced by Ukraine due to russian aggression, as well as the launch of the Special Program for Ukraine's Recovery and Crisis Response.

Denys Shmyhal thanked for the assistance provided under the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) in Ukraine project, which has become the largest investment project in the history of the World Bank. So far, within the framework of the PEACE in Ukraine there has been attracted loans and grants totaling USD 12.9 billion and EUR 1.1 billion, directed to salaries for teachers, doctors, rescuers, pensions, and other social benefits. In particular, the International Development Association provided almost a billion euros for teacher salaries.

"The World Bank, in particular the International Development Association, has provided significant assistance to Ukraine. We look forward to further support and assistance in raising funds for the needs of the population and reconstruction," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government also thanked IDA for its work on the implementation of the Special Program for Ukraine's Recovery and Crisis Response.
