Yulia Svyrydenko tackles support for Ukraine’s energy sector and reconstruction with the President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies

Тhe Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, held a meeting with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol Socias, during the first-ever visit to Ukraine of such a high parliamentary level.

The parties discussed Ukraine’s energy security, preparations for the next heating season and the cooperation in solar energy.

The Head of Government thanked Spain for its contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, the transfer of 76 generators, support for Ukraine under the PURL initiative, as well as for the decision to allocate EUR 1 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2026 and to engage the SAFE mechanism for joint production.

Yulia Svyrydenko emphasised that Ukraine highly values Spain’s consistent support for Ukraine’s EU membership and its constructive position on the decision to provide Ukraine with the EU loan. 

According to her, this is of key importance for strengthening Ukraine’s macro-financial stability and defense capabilities.

“We also count on the Spanish Parliament’s ratification of the agreements on the Special Tribunal and the International Compensation Commission for Ukraine,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko.

Separately, the Prime Minister welcomed Spain’s establishment of the Office for Ukraine’s Reconstruction in Madrid and invited Spain to take part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk..
