Being invited to the commemorative events marking the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and the national liberation struggle of 15 March 1848, I had the honour of personally congratulating His Excellency Antal Heizer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Ukraine.
Together with diplomats of the Embassy, representatives of the Hungarian community, prominent cultural figures and members of the business community, the participants laid flowers at the monument to Hungary’s national poet and one of the key figures of the 1848 revolution — Sándor Petőfi, located in Kyiv at 8 Bulvarno-Kudriavska Street.
The official celebrations continued at the Embassy of Hungary in Ukraine, where a diplomatic reception and a concert programme were held. The musical part of the evening featured the string quartet “Capris-Classic”, performing works by outstanding Hungarian composers Béla Bartók and Leó Weiner.
The event became an important occasion to honour the historical memory of the Hungarian people and to highlight the significance of cultural and diplomatic dialogue between Hungary and Ukraine.
