On the evening of the premiere at the National Opera of Ukraine, the air seemed to tremble with excitement. The anticipation of a major event — a new interpretation of a classic work, a fresh directorial voice — created a truly special atmosphere.

Ivan Uryvskyi turned to the opera genre for the first time, and he did so in his own way: sincere, poetic, and sharp. The country’s main stage once again transformed into a space of artistic breakthrough.

The premiere of Jacques Offenbach’s *The Tales of Hoffmann*, staged by Ivan Uryvskyi, became more than just a highlight of the theatrical season — it is a vivid demonstration of how powerful, modern, and at the same time profoundly national the Ukrainian cultural scene is.
