Today, Montenegro celebrates its most important national holiday — Statehood Day, a symbol of the nation's enduring commitment to freedom, independence and respect for its rich historical heritage.
The date of 13 July holds profound significance in Montenegro's history. On this day in 1878, the Congress of Berlin formally recognized the independence of the Principality of Montenegro, affirming its status as a sovereign European state under international law. In addition, 13 July 1941 became a powerful symbol of the Montenegrin people's struggle for freedom and human dignity, marking the beginning of the nationwide anti-fascist uprising.
The editorial team of Kyiv Diplomatic Magazine extends its sincere congratulations to H.E. Ms. Borjanka Simićević, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Ukraine, as well as to all members of the Embassy and Consular staff, on the occasion of Statehood Day.
We express our sincere appreciation to Montenegro for its consistent support of Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, as well as for its solidarity with the Ukrainian people during this challenging period.
We are confident that the traditionally warm relations between Ukraine and Montenegro will continue to develop on the basis of mutual trust, partnership, respect for international law and shared European values.
We wish the friendly people of Montenegro peace, prosperity, democratic progress and continued success, and every citizen of the country happiness, well-being and confidence in the future.
Happy Statehood Day, Montenegro!
