First responders have already extinguished the fires that broke out at the Lavra, including in the Dormition Cathedral, and at the Mystetskyi Arsenal. More than 140 rescuers and 40 units of equipment were deployed. It took more than five hours to eliminate the consequences of the attack in this part of the city.

The Head of State thanked all services working at the strike sites, and everyone who is helping.

“It has been confirmed that two Russian drones deliberately targeted the part of the city where the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal are located,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

As of now, 35 people are reported injured in Kyiv, and five people have been killed. According to the President, 53 people have been wounded, and 11 people are known to have been killed in this massive Russian attack across the country. The Head of State expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is in constant communication with its partners regarding the consequences of this Russian attack and the necessary response. The President highlighted the importance of state leaders, public leaders, and international organizations not remaining silent.

“I have instructed Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our entire diplomatic team to maximize all contacts with partners today so that international events this week and next deliver real results for strengthening our defense and increasing global pressure on Russia over this war. We need a just response to this Russian strike. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine,” the Head of State said.

Overnight into June 15, Russia carried out a massive strike on Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and cities and communities across various regions of Ukraine. During the attack, Russia used 70 missiles of various types – ballistic, cruise, and anti-ship – and 611 drones, most of them “shaheds.”

Source: https://www.president.gov.ua/news/
</turbo:content>

      <turbo:content>

Strengthening Ukraine’s Air Defense, Granting Licenses for the Production of Anti-ballistic Missiles and Systems, Energy Support, and Increased Pressure on Russia: G7–Ukraine Meeting Held in France

n Évian, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the G7–Ukraine meeting. It was attended by President of France Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, President of the United States Donald Trump, Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

“Priorities are clear: more air defense missiles along with licenses to produce them, a winter support package, and cranking up pressure on Russia. Importantly, the U.S. is ready to provide a backstop across these lines of effort,” the Head of State said.

The leaders discussed Ukraine’s air defense needs: G7 countries will work to strengthen Ukraine’s protection. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also discussed with the U.S. President the possibility of obtaining licenses for the production of relevant anti-ballistic systems and missiles. The teams of both countries will continue working on this.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed photographs of the aftermath of Russian strikes and of Ukrainian emergency services extinguishing fires. The leaders condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and civilians. Emmanuel Macron announced that France will rebuild the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant sarcophagus. In addition, Switzerland is ready to assist with the restoration of the Lavra.

“Everyone believes that, in any case, the war must be stopped. This is logical. Everyone believes that they see no desire on Russia’s part, that it is playing games. What is meant is that Putin, above all, does not want to end it, but he must be forced to do so. First of all, through sanctions – all countries spoke about this,” the Head of State noted.

The President of Ukraine thanked the United Kingdom for recently intercepting a tanker from Russia’s shadow fleet. Other G7 countries are also planning to take similar measures.

The discussion also covered energy support and additional funding for the physical protection of infrastructure. Partners agreed to support Ukraine’s needs in diesel, gas, and petrol if the war continues and shortages arise.

All G7 countries support Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and recognize that the opening of the first negotiation cluster for Ukraine was fully justified, and that there are no obstacles to opening the subsequent clusters.

Source: https://www.president.gov.ua/news/
</turbo:content>
